NSD has started the implementation of NORTHERN STAR – a transport management system which is completely modularized and has completely independent modules that communicate using web services.
The Northern Star modules:
-     the clients/providers management
-     the fixed assets administration (trucks, trailers, tows)
-     the human resources management (drivers) and also the activity reports and drivers status at any moment (assigned to a transport, in transport, available for a new transport)
-     the management of transports and the dispatch of orders (the nearest driver, the suitable truck and tow, the restrictions, packaging and content management)
-    track and trace solutions
-   documents printing – invoices, road documents, merchandise attendance documents, custom documents etc.

Northern Star will be developed using Eclipse and Apache Geronimo technologies. It is a low-cost and modern solution for transport management.
